I would like to know if there is Finnish bibliography translated into English, concerning ethnic minorities like Somali people in Helsinki? My special interest is in spatial issues or spatial discrimination but I guess this is too specific, so something more general would suit me too, if there is.
There are some studies made in Finland about somali people adapting to finnish society and in city of Helsinki. The books can be found in HelMet libraries http://www.helmet.fi/screens/opacmenu.html.
Major part of the material is in finnish, but here are some books in english also:
Svinhufvud, Tommi: Somalian immigrant students and equality /Helsinki : City of Helsinki, 1997. Variations on the theme of Somaliness : proceedings of the EASS/SSIA international congress of Somali studies, Turku, Finland, August 6-9, 1998 / edited by Muddle Suzanne Lilius. Turku : Åbo Akademi University, Centre for continuing education, 2001.
In the City of Helsinki there is for example Cultural Office Caisa. Its aim is to support the multicultural development of the city by promoting the interaction of people from different countries, and by providing information about various cultures and about Finnish society.
